2022.01.24 06:48 Cross_Ange [Excerpt: Adeptus Custodes Rulebook] Depending on interpretation, the Custodes actively defended the Emperor's Palace against the Great Beast's Waaagh.
Meta context: the War of the Beast BL series is arguably one of the most contentious plotlines in existence. Even the ever-present arguments over the evolution of the HH don't cause anywhere near as much kerfuffle as this particular book series.
Meta context 2: in the BL-version (2015 to 2016), the only action of note by the Custodes was to wank around and get dunked by Harlequin commandoes. The GW version of events (2018 to 2022-ongoing) is 'slightly' different depending on interpretation.
‘I fought atop the walls of the Emperor’s palace when the Great Beast’s Waaagh! crashed against them. There I fell, yet was reborn in this ageless body of auramite.TLDR: Custodes Uriaxes was severely wounded in the course of defending the walls of the Palace against the Orks and as a reward, he was chucked into a Dreadnought.

2022.01.24 06:48 MikeDesign78 Complete noob - is Tamiya the right choice?
As a kid I was always jealous of my neighbours Tamiya kits. So notes I have the disposable cash and a free local circuits I want in. The whole lot aspect of Tamiya really appeals to me and I’ve been looking at the Plasma 2, but am I going to turn up at a circuit and get instant envy when I see much faster (and potentially cheaper) RCs flying past me? I’m a little conflicted!

2022.01.24 06:48 Stegles Building a 3D printer from scratch
Hi all, I’ve wanted a 3D printer for a long time but never really had the spare cash to outright go and buy one, there’s just been more important things for me, but I’ve been toying with the idea of designing and building one from scratch as a bit of a long term pet project.
A bit of background, I’m a network engineer, I have been coding since I was about 8 years old, and high school and uni I studied 3D modelling and game design. I’m very mechanically minded so I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch for me to pull this off, with a lot of work obviously. I don’t expect to build something that is commercially competitive or to sell, just to try and do.
My limitations are that I live in an apartment in Singapore, so I don’t have access to a heavy duty workshop and am limited to hand tools. I do not currently own or have access to a 3D printer, so simply printing parts is out of the question also.
I am not looking at this as a way to get a 3D printer cheaper, i fully expect it to cost significantly more for a worse product, but it’s the project I’m interested in.
I am looking for any info on people who have done this, material choices, some designs that have and have not worked for people outside of the common commercial builds, as well as part suppliers which are too complex to fabricate (such as extruded heads, motors etc). I have no interest in building a kit printer to claim “I made this”.
I know people will say don’t bother or that it will be too hard/expensive, if that’s you, you’re entitled to your own views and thoughts, but if you have something you can meaningfully contribute or advice it would be very useful.
I don’t plan to write software to build models only to run the printer itself, I’m not that crazy.

2022.01.24 06:48 Kryptik_Fox Why do people on the news talk about economic growth as if it's a good thing?
So it's totally normal to see a news report about the climate crisis. Then on the same program, or channel, you'll hear a financial report where they clearly equate economic growth with positive outcomes. There's no sense of it being problematic at all. Anyone else totally baffled by this?

2022.01.24 06:48 jamesstudy1 James' Study
I launched a website called James Study (www.jamesstudy.com) - an educational website meant to help individuals and entrepreneurs with ideas, business concepts, health information and more.
One thing that entrepreneurs deal with is a lot of stress - and stress causes a loss of essential nutrients (magnesium, etc)
I also launched a podcast (www.jamesstudy.com/podcast) - which is doing fairly well. If you are interested in hearing someone talk about health and business stuff - feel free to check out the website.
Thanks for checking it out

2022.01.24 06:48 science-raven Am I using the wrong words for this press relase?
I'm attempting to write Tech-Speak incite interest in my Press Release introduction:
an impressive interlocking mechanism of exact electrical contacts protected within a graceful container that can group lithium batteries 95% faster than welding.
What I actually mean is " An advanced design of hyper-performant electrical contacts housed in a compartmentalized box that can group batteries fast..."
"An innovative geometry of ral-guided electrical contacts insulated in matrices of channel recessis in a box which can group batteries fast"...
"A disruptively cheap, easy and high-performance battery box which does for lithium what USB did for computer connection"
"developed a matrix of super-precise and insulated impact resistant electrical contacts, 10 times more powerful than spring-metal battery contacts, in an easy to use battery box, which makes lithium building 95% faster than welding"
I'm a bit confused about what to say for the first phrase.
